Candle Care 101
Wick Trimming
To ensure your wood wick burns optimally, always keep it trimmed to 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. Think of wax as having a 'memory.' The way your candle burns the first time sets the tone for its entire life. For the best experience, ensure the melted wax reaches the edge of the glass on the first burn. This prevents tunneling and maximizes your candle's lifespan. Ideally, keep your candle lit for 3-4 hours during the initial burn.
Before lighting your candle again, clip or poke off the burned portion of the wick, being careful not to let any ash fall into the wax. Only trim the wick when the candle is completely cool. Regular trimming helps control fuel consumption, enhances fragrance throw, minimizes soot and dark smoke, and promotes an even burn pool. Ensure the trimmings are kept away from the burning candle to prevent them from relighting.
Additionally, with the wooden wicks, you may notice the flame height varies or appears to self-extinguish. This is completely normal. Even a low flame continues to heat the wax, and given time, the flame height will return. Enjoy a consistently radiant burn with every use.
Location
Keep candles out of reach of children and pets, and never leave a burning candle unattended. Don't touch the outside of a glass candle while it's lit, and wait until it's cooled before moving or touching it.
For a truly luxurious candle experience, it’s essential to allow the wax pool to reach the edge of the vessel each time you burn it. This process takes about 2 to 3 hours. Ensuring a full-width wax pool prevents tunneling and maintains the candle’s exquisite performance. However, avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time to preserve its quality.
To preserve the quality of your Frezco candle, always extinguish it properly after each burn session. Gently blow out the flame with a gentle, steady breath, keeping your mouth open to avoid a direct hit on the flame. This careful approach preserves the integrity of the wick, preventing it from burning too short and ensuring it lights and burns efficiently in future lightings.
